5th edition of the Master Programme in Marine and Coastal Systems

Dear colleagues

The University of Algarve is pleased to announce the 5th edition of the Master Programme in Marine and Coastal Systems (MaCS; www.macsmaster.com), focused on the study of processes operating within the coastal and marine systems, subject to geological, physical, chemical and biological forcing. MaCS is fully accredited in accordance to Bologna Process, has 2 years of total duration (120 ECTS) and will be lectured in English, starting on September 2018.

The 1st application phase is open until 19/01/2018 (results due by 29/01/2018). Applications can be submitted electronically at: https://www.ualg.pt/home/pt/content/candidatura-online-mestrados

‘The Shrimp Epigenome (ShrimpENCODE) Project’ and ‘ONE HEALTH Epigenomics and Microbiomes

Please inform students about availability of travel awards from the FUCOBI Foundation of Ecuador, to attend ‘The Shrimp Epigenome (ShrimpENCODE) Project’ and ‘ONE HEALTH Epigenomics and Microbiomes: From Soil to People’ sessions I will chair during the 119th National Shellfisheries Association Annual Meeting at The Renaissance Hotel, Seattle, WA USA, March 18-22, 2018 (http://www.shellfish.org/). These sessions focus on the application of the holistic concept of ONE HEALTH to conserve healthy ecosystems (agricultural soil, sediment of mangroves forests and wetlands), to maintain healthy animals (livestock, shrimp/shellfish, fish), to protect human health long-term (antibiotic resistance, zoonoses, obesity, diabetes, autism, microcephaly and other neural tube defects, cancer, allergies, among others).
